The Art of Motivation:
An Interactive Seminar for Teachers Who Like the Sound of Success
Presented by Olga Bondarchuk-Huque.
Although I've been teaching piano for nearly 50 years, it didn't take long for me to realize that one of the biggest problems we face as teachers is student retention. And despite what your students and parents tell you - "I have too much homework" or "We have soccer practice every day" - the simple truth is that your students are not motivated to play the piano. I will be sharing suggestions based on my own 50+ years of teaching experience that will help you motivate your students - and yourself! - from day one, to their last lesson before going off to college.  My presentation will cover: 1) What questions to ask during the interview process; 2) How to encourage your students to take part in competitions; 3) How to design and prepare a winning repertoire; 4) How to work with students during the High School years; 5) How you can increase your income, especially during the summer months; and 6) How you can grow along with your students.
I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, and I am a 3rd generation piano teacher. I graduated from the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts with a degree in Piano and Choir Pedagogy. I maintain a busy piano studio in Philadelphia. My students have won prizes at many national and international competitions, and performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and the Kyiv Conservatory. I have been the Chair of my local Dorothy Sutton Performance Festival for the past 11 years. I am also the Director of the Crescendo International Music Competition and the Little Mozarts International Competition for the state of Pennsylvania. I was honored to be the 2017 recipient of the Top Music Teacher Award presented by Steinway and Sons.
